Prototyping embedded solutions for beginners with Micropython and ESP32 microcontrollers Feedback

Design "Things" as in physical objects with computers embedded into them. Use design methods to find problems that makes sense to solve with embedded computers. Prototype simple circuits with sensors and actuators and make a program to make them to work with Micropython.

The workshop will consist of the following:

  • Intro to the ESP32 microcontroller
  • Intro to Micropython and installation/flashing on ESP32
  • Use of Thonny editor for Micropython programming
  • Intro to simple sensors and actuators with code and circuit examples
  • Design methods to brainstorm viable problems to solve and idea generation
  • Participants can select a sensor and acutator, to use for their own project/problem to solve
  • Bonus if there is time for it (MQTT protocol - sending data and acting on it over the internet)

Participants will need to bring a laptop and a USB-A or C to micro-USB cable. ESP32 devices, dupont-cables, sensors and actuators will be provided at the workshop.
